Biological Control
Biological control is the use of existing organisms to control a particular pest or mosquito. These organisms are animals or pathogens that are considered “natural enemies” to the pest. Using biological control methods is a great long term, environmentally friendly alternative to chemical pesticide use.
Our district uses Mosquitofish (Gambusia affinis) to help control mosquito larva populations. If correctly and strategically employed, Mosquitofish can greatly reduce the larva population in a small pond, water trough, or neglected swimming pool.
If you are interested in the benefits of Mosquitofish and think they might be appropriate for your property, please fill out a service request form.
